Tuition Assistance

Program Information 2013-2014

Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School recognizes that the cost of Christian secondary education can be a challenge, especially for families with limited income. The Tuition Assistance Program is designed to help parents meet the cost of this precious Christ-centered training for our youth. The following guidelines are provided to help parents with their application procedures.

Eligibility

The Tuition Assistance Program is open, by application, to current and newly enrolled students. A copy of the federal tax form for 2012 (first two pages of 1040 or 1040EZ) must accompany the application. Students who are preparing for fulltime service in the church as a pastor or teacher may request financial assistance from the Melvin and Vivian Krohn Memorial Endowment funds. Check item 3a on the application form if you are preparing for the pastoral or teaching ministry.

Levels of Support

The amount of each grant is determined on the basis of need and the funds available for the program. The number of requests for assistance will also affect the amount of individual grants. The amount available depends upon funds received from the MVLHS Foundation, Minnesota Independent School Forum (MISF), and direct gifts. Grants from the Melvin and Vivian Krohn Memorial Endowment are limited to students preparing for fulltime service as a pastor or teacher. The Barnabas Project funds are designed for those families with the greatest need. Barnabas Project funds limited in the amount and number of special gifts to such recipients.

Awards of Grants

The Tuition Assistance Committee will determine need on the basis of information supplied by the applicants. All applications will receive strictest confidence. The committee will consider applications shortly after the deadline date for application, which is May 17, 2013. ** Please note that we cannot guarantee that awards will be given to applications received after May 17, 2013.**Applicants will receive notice of the committee’s decision in June. Awards will be credited directly to the recipient’s account.
